Memphis police have confirmed the death of up-and-coming rapper Big Scarr, who died Thursday at 22.

Police confirmed to WHBQ that the rapper, whose real name was Alexander Woods, died Thursday, and said that no foul play is suspected.
“This is an ongoing death investigation,” police told WHBQ.
No cause of death was given.
Scarr was preparing to go on tour with Key Glock, a fellow rapper from Memphis, as part of his “Glockoma Tour 2023,” WHBQ reported.

The rapper’s death was confirmed in an Instagram post by Gucci Mane, the rapper and record producer who founded 1017 Records, WHBQ-TV reported. The musician’s cause of death has not been revealed.
“This hurts,” Mane posted on Instagram. “I’m a miss you.”
Big Scarr, whose real name was Alexander Woods, was born on April 7, 2000, in South Memphis. He reportedly got his nickname after being involved in a near-fatal automobile crash when he was 16, AllMusic reported.
He was known for his debut mixtape “Big Grim Reaper,” which was released in 2021, according to HipHopDX. The project featured notable tracks such as “SolcyBoyz 2″ and “Poppin,” according to music website XXL.
Woods also collaborated with record label colleagues Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano on several tracks, the website reported.
According to one of the rapper’s last Instagram posts, he was preparing to tour with fellow Memphis rapper, Key Glock, as part of his “Glockoma Tour 2023,” WHBQ reported.

Memphis Rapper Big Scarr Dead at 22
The official Instagram account of Gucci Mane’s label shared the heartbreaking news of Big Scarr’s death.
Sharing a series of images of the late rapper, Gucci penned: This hurt [crying emoji] I’m a miss you Big Scarr.”
Gucci had been instrumental in Big Scarr’s rise to stardom, taking him onto his label in 2020. By 2020 he was gaining momentum and signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 record label.
Born Alexander Woods in Memphis, TN on April 7 2000, Scarr was one of eight siblings and grew up living with his grandma until she died when he was just 13.
The name Big Scarr reportedly came from injuries he suffered when he was in a car crash aged 16.
Scarr was thrown through the windshield of a friend’s car during the smash and sustained several scars.
The circumstances surrounding the Memphis rapper’s death are scarce at the moment. No confirmation has come from police or local news outlets.
