Two-time NBA Champion Kevin Durant gave a nod to the UConn men’s basketball team’s recent success, wearing Husky-branded sneakers in the Brooklyn Nets’ Monday night game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 12-time NBA All-Star played his lone college season with the Texas Longhorns, but prior to his commitment considered playing UConn, even making a visit to Storrs.
The UConn-inspired kicks were his own shoe line, the KD 15s. It wasn’t his first time with a UConn-branded shoe, having come out with his ‘UConn’ Nike KD 8 Elite PE’s in 2016. This pair was more subtle with the majority of the shoe colored white featuring UConn navy near the bottom with red soles. Although, Durant was sure to include the Husky logo on both ankles of the sneaker.
Durant seems to have produced a new and improved pair. This time, there was nothing understated about the colorway. UConn’s signature navy explodes over most of the shoe with a bright red swoosh. Also the Husky is now front and center on the tongue of the sneaker.
Durant finished with 32 points, including five 3-pointers, helping the Nets to a 125-117 win over Cleveland. Durant efficient, going 10-of-18 from the floor and grabbing nine rebounds.
